International Day of Peace
The United Nations International Day of Peace is 21 September. The Make Peace festival is taking place in Glasgow on the Saturday before Peace Day (17 September)
The Intenational Day of Peace was first established by the General Assembly of the United Nations in 1981 and was fixed as 21st September in 2011.
The Peace One Day initiative has promoted this day as a global day of ceasefire in conflict.

The International Day of Prayer for Peace is also 21 September and is supported by the World Council of Churches.
